Mixing green and purple FAQ

Mixed as paint, green and purple make a muted teal (#385E55). As light on a screen, they make a muted blue (#6F93AE), and blended in CSS with OKLCH they give a teal (#006F90).

Light adds up instead of absorbing, so green and purple light make a muted blue (#6F93AE). That is why screens can show bright yellows from red and green light, while the same paints would turn brown.

Change the ratio. Three parts green to one part purple gives a green (#2F714D), while one part green to three parts purple gives a muted blue (#424D63). To lighten the result add white, and to darken it add a little black.

Use color-mix(in oklch, #1E8C45 50%, #6B2FA3 50%), which gives #006F90. OKLCH keeps the middle of the mix bright, while mixing in sRGB tends to turn it gray.
