Light adds up instead of absorbing, so purple and brown light make a purple (#9F58A8). That is why screens can show bright yellows from red and green light, while the same paints would turn brown.

Change the ratio. Three parts purple to one part brown gives a brown (#6D3D52), while one part purple to three parts brown gives a brown (#774532). To lighten the result add white, and to darken it add a little black.

Use color-mix(in oklch, #6B2FA3 50%, #7B4A2A 50%), which gives #8C3056. OKLCH keeps the middle of the mix bright, while mixing in sRGB tends to turn it gray.
