Mixing pink and brown FAQ

Mixed as paint, pink and brown make a brown (#BC8263). As light on a screen, they make a pink (#FFABBB), and blended in CSS with OKLCH they give a brown (#BA756F).

Light adds up instead of absorbing, so pink and brown light make a pink (#FFABBB). That is why screens can show bright yellows from red and green light, while the same paints would turn brown.

Change the ratio. Three parts pink to one part brown gives a red (#D49585), while one part pink to three parts brown gives a brown (#A26A47). To lighten the result add white, and to darken it add a little black.

Use color-mix(in oklch, #F4A6C0 50%, #7B4A2A 50%), which gives #BA756F. OKLCH keeps the middle of the mix bright, while mixing in sRGB tends to turn it gray.
