Mixing purple and teal FAQ
Mixed as paint, purple and teal make a blue (#315C8F). As light on a screen, they make a blue (#6D93CD), and blended in CSS with OKLCH they give a blue (#006BAF).
Light adds up instead of absorbing, so purple and teal light make a blue (#6D93CD). That is why screens can show bright yellows from red and green light, while the same paints would turn brown.
Change the ratio. Three parts purple to one part teal gives a blue (#3B4995), while one part purple to three parts teal gives a teal (#27708B). To lighten the result add white, and to darken it add a little black.
Use color-mix(in oklch, #6B2FA3 50%, #128C87 50%), which gives #006BAF. OKLCH keeps the middle of the mix bright, while mixing in sRGB tends to turn it gray.
