Mixing orange and teal FAQ
Mixed as paint, orange and teal make a green (#4C8F43). As light on a screen, they make a tan (#F3C08C), and blended in CSS with OKLCH they give an olive (#809E3E).
Light adds up instead of absorbing, so orange and teal light make a tan (#F3C08C). That is why screens can show bright yellows from red and green light, while the same paints would turn brown.
Change the ratio. Three parts orange to one part teal gives an olive (#6B9139), while one part orange to three parts teal gives a green (#328F54). To lighten the result add white, and to darken it add a little black.
Use color-mix(in oklch, #F28C28 50%, #128C87 50%), which gives #809E3E. OKLCH keeps the middle of the mix bright, while mixing in sRGB tends to turn it gray.
