Mixing pink and white FAQ

Mixed as paint, pink and white make a muted pink (#FAC6D8). As light on a screen, they make an off-white (#FFDDE7), and blended in CSS with OKLCH they give a muted pink (#FCD3DF).

Light adds up instead of absorbing, so pink and white light make an off-white (#FFDDE7). That is why screens can show bright yellows from red and green light, while the same paints would turn brown.

Change the ratio. Three parts pink to one part white gives a light pink (#F7B6CC), while one part pink to three parts white gives an off-white (#FCD8E5). To lighten the result add white, and to darken it add a little black.

Use color-mix(in oklch, #F4A6C0 50%, #FFFFFF 50%), which gives #FCD3DF. OKLCH keeps the middle of the mix bright, while mixing in sRGB tends to turn it gray.
